Use cases

Updated 27 October 2026

Ortam gives a coding agent a machine it keeps. Each Sandbox is a Linux VM whose whole disk is saved while the agent works.

Software factories

A software factory assigns tasks to coding agents, checks their changes and opens pull requests. Machines for a software factory covers what a factory needs from its machines, what Ortam runs, what the factory keeps, and how a task moves through it.

Background coding agents

Background agents work on your own repositories while no one watches. Each starts on its own machine from a ready copy of the repository. Background coding agents covers parallel tasks, long runs that outlive the service assigning them, and what an idle agent costs.

Coding agents for your customers

Agencies, agent products and app builders give each customer an agent and a machine. The customer needs no Ortam account. Coding agents for your customers covers keeping customers apart, their own AI accounts, and terminal access.

Claude Code and Codex in the cloud

Run your own Claude Code or Codex sessions off your laptop, several at once. They use your Claude or ChatGPT plan, and your login isn’t stored on the machine. Claude Code and Codex in the cloud shows how to start one and come back to it.
